How do I benefit from getting the pneumococcal vaccine?

In certain individuals, pneumococcal infection can cause severe pneumonia, blood infections, or meningitis, which can be life-threatening.

The vaccine helps by reducing your risk of serious infections, lowering the chance of hospitalisation or death, and preventing complications that could worsen existing health problems.

In simple terms, for high-risk adults, the pneumococcal vaccine provides an extra layer of protection that can literally save lives.

Where do I get the pneumococcal vaccine?

• PlatComprehensive and PlatCap members can get pneumococcal vaccines via their preventative healthcare benefit from either our in-house pharmacies or designated service provider (DSP) pharmacies.
• Members on the PlatFreedom option can use our in-house pharmacies or their Pharmacy of Choice to get a pneumococcal vaccine via their preventative healthcare benefit.
