Getting your annual flu vaccine is one of the simplest, safest ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community this winter.

Who should get a flu vaccine?

Anybody can get the flu vaccine, but it’s especially important to do so if you are part of a priority group:

  • Adults aged 60 and older.
  • Children between 6 months and 5 years old.
  • If you are pregnant (any trimester).
  • Lung disease e.g. asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease.
  • Heart disease.
  • HIV/AIDS.
  • Kidney disease.

How do I benefit from getting the flu vaccine?

  • It reduces your risk of getting flu.
  • It makes symptoms less severe.
  • It helps prevent severe illness, which can lead to hospital stays or, in extreme cases, death.
  • It helps protect vulnerable people around you, such as babies, elderly relatives, people with chronic illnesses, by reducing the spread of the flu.
  • It reduces time off work and healthcare costs.

Where do I get a flu vaccine?

  • PlatComprehensive and PlatCap members can get their flu vaccines via their preventative healthcare benefit from either our in-house pharmacies or designated service provider (DSP) pharmacies.
  • Members on the PlatFreedom option can use our in-house pharmacies or their Pharmacy of choice to get a flu vaccine via their preventative healthcare benefit.
  • Members can visit their relevant provider pharmacies and request that the flu vaccine be dispensed on the Scheme benefit.
